Some Terms and Conditions: Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. You may change your clinic date up until 1 month before your scheduled clinic. Remainder of clinic fee ($1400 total - deposit paid) is due 1 week before the clinic. If we (Cloudsurf Paragliding) decide to completely cancel the clinic prior to the start of the clinic we may reschedule you at a future clinic or refund your deposit. If you miss your clinic or your tows due to any personal circumstances or change of mind then the deposit and clinic fee are not refundable. If we try to complete the clinic (haul the boat out to the lake) but weather or mechanical issues prevent any tows we will conduct a 1 day training and gear clinic for the price of the deposit ($350). If we try to tow (put the boat in the water) but weather or mechanical issues prevent some tows we will conduct a 1 day training and gear clinic and refund any missed tows at $150/tow. These terms and conditions are only a partial explanation of our policy and a full Terms and Conditions acknowledgement must be read and signed before the start of the clinic.
Additional Info:
We recommend that local (or driving) pilots attend early and late season clinics due to the possibility of weather days. (May - early June, late Sept).
If you are flying to your clinic we highly recommend you purchase changeable tickets or trip insurance in case the clinic is changed or canceled due to weather.
We typically find camping options at Mossyrock Park. If the park is completely full we have access to a private campground about 25 minutes away.
We don’t recommend Riffe Lake Campground due to unsanitary conditions and other bad experiences we’ve had there in the past.
To find our clinic meeting spot, navigate to “Mossyrock Park” and then drive to the back of the park, we usually meet near the shelter by the boat ramp.
You will need a hook knife attached to the outside of your harness, in a sheath and with a lanyard so you don’t lose it. All other towing/training equipment is provided by Cloudsurf Paragliding: Tow bridle, 2nd Reserve (frontmount), handle floats, 2 radios + earpiece, Inflatable Lifejacket, Boat/Winch equipment
We boat across the lake each tow day. The launch/LZ is a small to large shoreline (depending on lake level) with a shade structure, snacks and water provided by us. Bring a camp chair, your own food/drinks, a stuff bag or small tarp is great for quick packs and keeping your gear out of the sun. We often return back to the parking lot near 8pm or later. The days are long, be prepared.
We usually have a camera on a tripod for filming SIV laps. If you want to bring a GoPro, understand that it is a tangle hazard and plan accordingly (no helmet mounts allowed). Video of your runs in not guaranteed and may not always be provided but we try our best (I’d say 80% of the runs end up with a video).
